Last night my wife was sitting in bed reading when she yelled out to me that she heard shots fired nearby and then we heard sirens coming from all directions...........We are hearing several different stories as to what exactly went down. The shots were fired around 10:20pm. The census worker says she showed up at 5 in one report, 8:15 in another, but it was after 9:00pm when she was in the neighborhood.

The Sutter County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Victoria Helen Roger-Vasselin, 67, of Yuba City.
According to Yuba City police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey, officers also arrested Yuba City resident Lionel Patterson, 51, in connection with the incident.
Pavey said the census worker was at a home on Mariner Circle after 5 p.m. Thursday when the residents aimed a firearm at her.
When officers arrived at the home, they said they were approached by the man holding a handgun. Pavey said as the officers were dealing with him, Roger-Vasselin came to the door with a shotgun.
Officers asked her to drop the weapon but she continued to advance on them, according to Pavey.
Two officers said Roger-Vasselin was pointing the shotgun in a threatening manner when they fired their weapons at her.
"I think she reacted to Ronnie (Patterson) being thrown on the ground," said Roger-Vasselin's son. "I don't think she really knew what was going on. I think she was disoriented. It was dark, it was late."
The son said his mom was still inside when she was hit.
"I think, I think the rookie cop panicked and made a really bad decision. Again, she may be a good cop but good cops make bad decisions," he said.
Pavey said Roger-Vasselin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Census spokesman Sonny Le said door-to-door census workers are instructed to visit homes late in the afternoon, evenings and weekends when most people are home. He said the rule of thumb is 8 in the evening.
Le said the census worker was upset and took some time to compose herself before calling her supervisor in Fairfield who in turn contacted Yuba police.
The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave as the department investigates the incident.
