RE: Oppose The Anti-Gun Kagan Supreme Court Nomination

I'm writing to ask you to please oppose the Anti-Gun Kagan Nomination and Protect the Second Amendment against Obama’s Scheme To Create an Anti-Gun Court..

I the undersigned, as a citizen of the United States, do hereby demand that you vote "NO" on the Kagan Supreme Court nomination.

The Founding Fathers knew exactly what they were doing when they wrote the Second Amendment -- they were giving the people the right to defend themselves against all threats -- including the threat of an oppressive government at the State and Federal level.

Americans are highly skeptical of Kagan who helped Clinton ban over 58 different rifles designed for HUNTING. Together, they helped created one of the most gun hostile environments in Arkansas history. She took her extremist views a step further and attempted to BAN the importation of all semi-automatic weapons. Refusing to end her anti-constitutional crusade there she fervently pushed to have law enforcement officers install trigger locks on their weapons. We will not accept any legislation from the bench or diversionary talk of "waiting periods" or "gun-registration" and additional promises to enforce any new and deeply flawed approaches.

If history is an accurate guide, banning guns would only embolden criminals and encourage crime leaving American's defenseless and allow the uncontrolled and unacceptable to happen, making family security even worse than it is now.

Such legislation from the bench is a bad idea because it creates armed criminals to prey upon law abiding citizens. Further, it would be impossible to administer and even more unlikely to be enforced. Gun control is about government controlling the people - NOT about making people safe. That's what's at stake here. Our freedom. Our future.

The most important job you have to do right now is to protect U.S. citizens Second Amendment rights. This issue is BLACK OR WHITE - there are NO "shades of gray." We need you to protect Americans and their Right to Bear Arms. Please, please oppose the Anti-Gun Kagan Nomination and Protect the Second Amendment. I will be watching your vote on this issue very closely. Thank you.

I have this feeling like both my senators will vote for her no matter what.  The good news is one will most likly be gone after this election.

I have just one problem with this letter, our rights come from God and not the government or the founding fathers. The constitution protects those right but government can only give you privileges and can only take away privileges or deny you rights. That being said we can clearly see that in a less liberal age someone like this would never be considered.

You're right. The letter would never go past an assistant's desk with our Senators. Do you really think that the rest of California will actually get rid of Boxer?

Just got this in a newsletter from one of my senators, Chambliss (R-Ga):

Quote

Elena Kagan nomination to the Supreme Court

Any judge who sits on the nation’s highest court must understand that the correct venue for making policy is the legislative branch. After reviewing Solicitor General Kagan’s record, I remain unconvinced that she will show this requisite judicial restraint.

Ms. Kagan once criticized the Supreme Court confirmation process as lacking “seriousness and substance,” but when faced with the opportunity to clarify many of her more troubling positions during days of questioning before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she was evasive and unhelpful.

Her inadequate answers leave me with significant concerns on several issues, including discriminatory actions against military recruiters – in clear violation of federal law – while she was dean of Harvard Law School in protest of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy; her hostility toward the Second Amendment while employed by the judicial and executive branches; and her support for the egregious practice of partial-birth abortion.

Ms. Kagan is clearly outside of mainstream America. Therefore, I will vote against her nomination to the Supreme Court.

Trouble is, you're sending this letter to a government slug who is just as scared of an armed populace as Kagan. They won't vote her down. Let's just pray that the REST of the court stays in good health till Obuttma is out of office.
