Stolen ATV, arguing neighbors reported in West End
May 25, 2010 12:00 AM

Quote
STATE POLICE

AT LEHIGHTON, PA

    * Sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday, someone stole an unsecured red 2004 Honda Recon all-terrain vehicle valued at $2,500 and a $200 orange and white Stihl chainsaw from a Kunkletown Road property in Ross Township.
    * Sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday, someone threw eggs at a Frable Drive home in Eldred Township.

Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to call police at 610-377-4270.

On Thursday, neighbors James Mayrosh, 47, and Philip Manzo, 65, were mowing their respective yards on Kunkletown Road, Eldred Township, when they came close to each other and got into an argument that involved name-calling and dirty looks over various issues including the property line. Each claims the other threw a rope marking the property line in his face. Both were cited.

Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

I, too, am from PA so I can say that if this were to happen in the city of Phila we would be wondering who shot who first over this silly argument.  The article in the paper would be followed by a swift condemnation by the Mayor blaming the guns for shooting each other with a gun buyback program immediately put into action to take in-operable and broken-beyond-repair guns off the street.
Gotta love PA, though!

Ahh Philadelphia, the city of brotherly, HEY SHUT THE **** Up mother (Bang).... I told you to shut the **** up...

I tell ya, I can't drive to Pittsburgh from my little river side town in Ohio without cringing. PA just bugs me, and I don't know why.

I will preface my statement by saying I have spent time in several big cities.  Philly is the only one I've ever been nervous in, however.  Last time I was there, I was staying at a very nice hotel, in the good part of town and decided to walk to dinner.  Big mistake!  My buddy and I weren't accosted, but in the 3 or so blocks between our hotel and the restaurant we passed what appeared to be a group of Russian mobsters, a couple groups of urban thugs guarding their respective stoops, and a guy who walked about 50ft behind us yelling incoherently for about a block and a half.  Philly's department of tourism should include these lovely folks in their next brochure.

I spent a good deal of time living in Albuquerque and even there I felt safer than Pittsburgh of Philadelphia. Of course this summer I will be spending time in both Baltimore and DC so I think I may be able to one-up the PA freakiness. At least now I have a PA Non-Resident CCW. I feel much safer needless to say.

I've never not felt safe in Pittsburgh.  Lost, yes, but never threatened.  Phillthy, on the other hand, is a completely different story.  And don't get me started on Cleveland.   ;D

I grew up in the suburbs of the 'burgh and never felt bad there (other than the hill district).  Haven't been there in 20 years though so I can't say what it's like now.
