Whoops? I think "Oh shit and thank you Lord" is better. Glad it worked out.

Hate squibs. How's the barrel?
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Looks ok on initial inspection but I'm going to take a closer look this week.  I am thanking my maker since the initial bullet barely entered the rifling and the second one was in there just a bit.  Most of the pressure came out the side of the case...only a little over  1/2 of it was supported.  Which of course means that the Thompson fired out of battery...I'll have to read up on them to see if that is a characteristic.

Most full automatic weapons fire from an open bolt, so firing out of battery is, more common than with other types of operation.
My Dad still has brass in his hand from a 50. cal doing that in Korea in 1952.

Yikes!
Glad you are able to type after that. I had a .45acp blow a left side grip panel off a 1911 after a case rupture long ago. Stung like the devil but left my hand intact.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Most of the pressure must have gone up and back.  My hand stings but no damage.  I have quite a bit of unburned powder embedded in my forehead though...reinforces my commitment to wearing eye pro.

Yup, that's why I'm not too happy with it firing out of battery.

KPR your right, that should not have happened, I would contact Kahr, send them the pics and a brief explanation of what happened, and why it should not have happened, the picture shows it fired way out of battery, never know, some Kahr gifts could be headed your way, not to mention, this does need to addressed, it could have been a lot worse. Maybe it is just your rifle, or it could be a real design problem, and your preventing future harmful events for others.

Glad your ok.
