Got to fondle...I mean handle the Remington 1911...I think it's worth the $$

While it's hard to judge a firearm w/o shooting it, the slide operates amazingly smooth.  The trigger is a little mushy, but I've had worse.  DANG IT!!! Now I need to find $700 from somewhere.

At the NRA conv, spoke with the Rem rep who said MSRP should be "around $600". They kept it very classic, as Remington made them 90 years ago.

Yes, it was nice to fondle a "non"-tweaked super-dee-duper 1911, (which are nice also, especially some new stuff from Para), but I am a sucker for clean and simple, and MB's vid review was great.

They are made as Browning designed it. Not a bad thing at all.

How are the sights? Its the only thing I really don't like about the JMB classic 1911s/Browning High Powers. I have eyes that are not what they should be. Being able to easily replace the stock sights is key. Wil the Rememington let me do this?

From the looks of them, they're much better than the M1911 or M1911A1.  Actually, visually, there about on par with my Para.  I'm planning on getting a FO front sight for my Para but other than that, they're fine.

Three BIG white dot.  I'm sure there would be a way to switch out for night sights, but I think they would be good

Sights are like socks, if they don't feel right, put on another pair, the R1 have standard 3-dot sights, some might say too high, some might want to put Novak, or tritiums on it, yadda, yadda,.....

They simply are standard, decent, sights. No muss, no fuss, perfectly capable for SD, or CC, mileage varies from shooter to shooter.

My S&W full size 1911, FWIW, is very similar, it has some internal tweaks, and a Wolff ambi-safety, with Novak sights, and a trigger job. Other than that, it holds to being just what is, a full size 1911. Remington did right with this one.
and there's nothing wrong with that.
