Good for you J, 1st match anything is challenging the unknown and USPSA is a fast paced game, I remember when I started, it was intimidating, but I liked the experience so much I kept coming back, and listening to the old timers, then started getting it right. Let her know, nobody stumbles into the game and wins, but if you like it, learn it and then reap the rewards. Let her know to start with, compete against your last score, not the other people, and that's all, don't let outside influences you don't know make you do things you don't YET understand. Competition is 90% mental, once you understand completely, the fundamentals.
My old Mantra " When in doubt, focus on the front sight and press the trigger straight back into your hand " and " you can't miss fast enough to win " Best of luck to her and you.
