Arne Boberg designed this "bullpup" pistol (see bobergarms.com for technical details) to provide a long barrel in a short gun. The barrel length is the same as in Glock 26 but the pistol is 1.5" shorter. Because of zero-degree feed angle and fully controlled feed path, it works with almost any bullet profile. In my hands, unsupported this pistol grouped 8" at 50 yards thanks to the smooth trigger and excellent balance! Rotary breech allowed very light recoil spring weight, making the slide easy to rack.

A better overlay would have been the Kel-tec PF9 in stead of the P3AT. At $800 I think I'll just buy 3 PF9's at $259 ea.

Its smaller then the PF9 (which is close in size to the Glock 26

I'd say it's fairly comparable. It's lonely slightly larger in height and length, but it's narrower in the width. Witch for me if very important I can hide the better than I can the last! The thicker it is the more of a bump it makes in you pocket. The PF9 is the thinnest pistol on the market witch is why I bought it. I'm not saying the XR9S is not a nice pistol but for the cost it doesn't provide enough advantage to justify an $800 price tag! The biggest difference is the length, I noticed most of the length difference is eaten up by the hammer. On the PF9 it's internal on the XR9S it's external. They both have an advantage over each other. Internal hammer has nothing to get hung up on like clothing, external hammer makes for a smaller package in the pocket. I like my PF9, but if the store price on the XR9S is more like $400 I might give it whirl. That's why I don't like the Kahr. They cost to much for a pocket gun that you could likely lose in a shooting to some evidence room for all eternity! This is a SD gun not a BBQ gun. So I don't know about you eric, but my pocket book isn't so deep as to be never ending.

I think that about sums it up. I'll wait for the gear heads to give it a test drive, wait for the price to go down and then consider one, maybe. I appreciate innovation, and I am delighted to see something like this rather than another 1911 or Glock/kel-tec clone. Still $800 for a pocket pistol is tall money.

I dont think I would go as far as to call this a pocket pistol, however some do carry the Glock and the PF9 in the pocket.... my pockets just aren't that deep.

I really like the concept, but I wouldnt buy it at that price (once again, shallow pockets) or without any reputation to even bring it into consideration for carry. I do however very much like the concept. I would very much prefer to have my Glock 26 as short as that thing is and still have the same barrel length and ballistic performance. I have found myself carrying in the 1 o'clock position more and more, and I think a gun this short would make sitting down more comfortable Its also really only about 1 1/2 ounces lighter then the Glock, so there really is not much gained once you factor in the loss of capacity (3 rds). But heres hoping this is "the next big thing" in the industry.

JMHO, YMMV, Real men carry 1911s, etc, etc..
