M25,

Wow, nice stick and writeup!

Hmm, $200 ish for the Baikal? I might need to search for one (I am currently in the Injured/Reserve list due to surgery, the airguns are IDEAL for keeping my skills up!).

Thanks,

Andy

I used to shoot international air pistol, and have had some mighty fine precision pistols and rifles, FWB, Baikal, and an odd Gamo that is really a very good shooting pistol that looks like a 1911, and inexpensive. I had 2 FWB, a model 65 recoiless, and a C20, the C20 was one of the predecessors to p44, co2 not precharged pneumatic, the currency exchange rate is what keeps these guns high dollar, I bought when the dollar was strong against the deutschmark , if you really want one, get on the NRA sport shooting classifieds, my c20 was only used for a an airsmith to make a muzzle break, and it was a Beeman select version with extra gas cylinder, I paid 600, shot it about 3 yrs and sold it for 1200, with a lot of extra goodies. I still have the Baikal russian precision pistol, single cock pneumatic, only 300 fps, but it does have a trigger that can be adjusted in less than 8oz, very adequate sights, and I got it through our JR shooting program on a group buy for just under 200.00, it will outshoot any but the best. .2" 5 shot groups at 10 meters. In Olympic terms, that is a decent pistol, not premium, premium is a .4mm 5 shot group with 4.5 mm projectile.

Now as to rifles, I have a RWS 48 side cocker, good 1,000 psi rifle shoots ok, good sights and trigger, but my new favorite that I have had for 5 yrs now is my Airforce Talon SS, in .22, Kodiak 22 grain pellets at 1,000 fps in 3/4" at 50 meters.

Base cost is 450.00 back then, and I got the optional 24" barrel and the scope mount. It is loud, but hits very hard and I can make hits at 100 meters on 8" plates, if you hold 24" high.

I also bought the Swedish bicycle air pump to go with it, so I don't have to have a scuba tank to fill it from, cost is 250 bucks, but it will pump up to 3500 psi. You better weigh better than 200 lbs if your going to use the pump to that level.

10/4 on air gun practice Andy, it makes you do everything right, soft air is good too when you get house bound, I set up beer cans around the house and use co2 softair glocks, that fit in my holsters, and when I come around a corner and see a can, light it up. Good luck on your recovery.

Remind me if I ever visit the states not to drop around and have a beer with ya, youd go take a snakes hiss walk around the corner and shoot the bastard out my hand!  :P

Ya know..the drama just does not end with Gamo and the part....

If I add up the time spent on the phone trying to get this part shipped it would add up to HOURS. (if I am behind on your order, sorry....)

Gamo just is completely disorganized and cannot process an order nor get ANYTHING correct.

Gamo Customer Service = MORONS

Gamo Airgun=AWESOMENESS

I cannot begin to describe the frustration and disappointment I have with Gamo.

If you are in the market for a high end Pellet rifle, but ANYTHING but Gamo...seriously.
