For The Downrange TV Staff ??
« on: July 14, 2010, 09:40:10 AM »
I live in the Phoenix Metro area and receive my cable TV from Cox Communications. I get just the basic service. However, even if I upgraded to their top tier package, none of the Outdoor, Sportsman's, or Shooting channels are avaliable. I also looked into Direct TV and Dish Network, who send me "free this or that" offers every 15 minutes or so, and I didn't see any of the shooting networks or channels listed there either. You need a magnifying glass to read the little channel symbols in their advertisements. I used a big one and couldn't find any.

My question is do any of you guys know a satellite network that is avaliable in the Phoenix area where I can receive these shooting and gun related programs? Thanks,   Bill T.

I would even subscribe to a website if I could watch all this stuff... those days are coming if Comcast doesn't destroy the world first.

I was on Directv for a long time, did not see outdoor channel, but talking with the OC guys at the shot show, they said ask, and sure enough, Directv had it, ala carte for 2 bucks a month. Ask.

Outdoor Channel is available nationwide on DISH Network. There are a few ways to order:

You can add Outdoor Channel to any existing program package for $1.99 per month. You will need to specifically request Outdoor Channel "a la carte" for $1.99 a month by calling 1-800-333-3474 and speaking to a representative.

It is included at no extra charge in America's Top 250 package.

Outdoor Channel is available nationwide on DirecTV. There are two ways to order:

You can add Outdoor Channel to any existing program package for $3.50 per month. You will need to specifically request Outdoor Channel "a la carte" for $3.50 a month by calling 1-800-494-4388 and speaking to a representative.
It is included at no extra charge in the Sports Pack on channel 606.

Down the road, I believe the shows will be available on the Internet, but I cannot predict the time line. It is a complicated matter both in terms of financing, renegotiating contracts with cable and other networks.

Shooter,

If I get the package you linked to, do all of the shooting and gun related shows show up on the "Outdoor Channel" and "The Sportsmen Channel", or are there any other networks involved I would need to get?   Bill T.
