Has anyone used a Trijicon Tri-Power?

I'm thinking about taking one in trade and saw some good reviews but wondered if anyone here has used one? To me it seems like getting the ACOG reticle I like the best in a 1X package. Height wise it looks like it may match up with my Aimpoint 3X magnifier as well. If so I really think it would be a good sight for me. i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them. I have an older one, actually has 4 light sources, battery, tritium, fiber optic and an optional place to put a small cyalume light stick, tritium is dead on mine. I love the chevron reticle and it is fast and light.

Downside, if I am standing in the shade battery set on highest setting and I am shooting at a white plate, the reticle washes out completely, fine on targets with different colors, brown, black, green etc..., talked to Trijicon and they said send it back, but could not get a straight answer if this a weakness of this unit. Let you know after I get it back.

Thanks for the feedback. I was reading where some guys have taken the newer models without the cyalume option and either placed a small one under the fiber optic cover and held it with a little tape or painted the inside of the cover with luminous paint. The luminous paint idea sounded promising, they claimed if you hit it with a 100+ lumen light for 30 seconds the fiber optics remained lit up for over 4 hours with the cover on. It sounds like the best of both worlds since  I guess the fiber optics are what give the best reticle use. They say that even having the inside of the cover painted and running the battery will keep the luminous paint charged up.

I think I'm going to make the deal for this optic but it's just hard to give up a gun to get it. I don't like to lower my overall number of guns I own but I don't see myself getting a high quality optic anytime soon otherwise. For some reason I don't have a hard time getting my wife onboard for a $600-$800 or so gun purchase  or a couple cases of ammo but if I tried to spend the same on any type of accessory she thinks I'm crazy.
