Evil assault assasination scopes:

Quote
High-tech scopes a young beauty tried to smuggle onto a Moscow-bound plane at Kennedy Airport are designed to help soldiers take out the enemy from a mile away.

Latvian-born lovely Anna Fermanova told federal agents she bought the three night-vision scopes for her husband's hunting pals in Russia.

Gun experts said yesterday her story doesn't make sense.

"These are used specifically for an assassination," said security consultant Bo Dietl, a former NYPD detective. "You're not going to hunt deer with a super scope. That's crazy.

"You could take someone out with one of these scopes in the dead of night from up to a mile-and-a-half-away," he said. "I have friends in Iraq who use these. These are the real deal."

Dan Wasserbly, a weapons expert with Jane's International Defence Review, said the $7,000 Raptor 4X Night Vision Weapons Sight that Fermanova had is so advanced the average U.S. soldier wouldn't use one.

And it's used for automatic assault weapons, not hunting rifles. "It's a piece of serious military hardware," he said.

Have fun reading these comments:

Here is the scope:

Exit Question: Any documented proof of a mile and a half shot with a 4x scope ???

Would your average hunter use it... probably not. Would a poacher who could afford it... you betcha. What makes their experts experts? I can sort of see with the guy from Jane's although they're not what they used to be but the other guy sounds like the typical "ex-cop expert" who knows little to nothing about any firearms other than the one(s) they (barely) qualified with.

Also consider that most of us in Wyo use scopes that are variable 3x-12x and that 300yds is not considered a particularly long shot. Hell I have a 3x NVG scope on my .22 for prairie dogs! This is a NYC cop with no experience outside of his jurisdiction.

if i had the money and had a need to kill pests i'd buy one.

mount that on something in 300 whisper with a can and you would have a killer anit pest gun.

I have a 15x on my Weirhauch .22 AIR RIFLE.   Yes, it's accurate enough to justify the scope.

Many air gun enthusiasts have night vision scopes because they hunt nocturnal varmints, like rats.  Something I've considered buying  but
it hasn't bubbled up to the top of my priority list.

I'm not really sure how many people would plan on taking a shot from a mile and a half out with an "automatic assault weapon."

In a somewhat off copy of Ted Nugent, if all my scopes were designed for assassinations, all of them are defective.   Bill T.

On a more serious note, I do know that Cabela's, and several shooters supply companies will not ship any and all night vision products out of the United States. So she may be in trouble based on that alone, regardless of what her intentions were with them.   Bill T.

Geez,.....Sportsmansguide.com has BSA 6-24x40mm Tactical Scopes for $49.97 Guaranteed to hit those prairie dogs, to 800 yds.

C'mon..... :-\ same website has Night Vision up to Level 2, laser designators,....probably find better stuff on ebay.... :P

Let alone the serious hunter that can invest some real "bling" into a quality scope and get it at Bass Pro, or Gander Mt.

Sheesh....
