Social Security
« on: July 29, 2010, 10:23:27 PM »
I recently looked at the Social Security website to see about applying for benefits.  They have a section that shows what info will be needed to apply.  One question they asked is if I have any dependent children between the ages of 18-19 who live with me and are attending ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.  WTF.

""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. It's probably a typo mistake.

When you start collecting SS, if you have children that are still in school, they will get a small stipend of SS from your account as well.

Don't worry... they probably only spent about 800K on a consultant to get that part of the website set up.

There, I fixed it for you.

That question is s'posed to be asked ONLY in the Southern States AND Chicago.

The SSA gets an "F" in sentence construction, as do most government institutions.  But, I'll give SSA a pass on intent.  I think what they're asking, having read the instructions is:

Names of unmarried children, under 18 living with you.
Names of unmarried children, 18-19, living with you.
Names of any dependents in secondary school.

Now that's what I gathered from the poorly constructed sentence in the instructions.  I haven't actually seen the application itself.

BUT then again, knowing it's a governmental agency, they could mean what BJC said.

Reminds me of the joke where the guy comes in from school and says, "Hey, Ma, I was changing clothes in PE today and saw I got the biggest 'thingy' in the whole fourth grade!"
Ma says, "Well, Johnny, you should.....after all, you are 17."

I have a very bitter taste in my mouth regarding SS. My mother died at 60 years old. Being unmarried, with two grown children, the 30+ years she PAID IN to SS, WAS KEPT by the gov't. All that money, STOLEN.

$200 Death Allotment. That's it, that's all. Bastards.

If I take a handgun and point it at a man outside the grocery store, and rob him of his money, I GOTO PRISON, the gov't,....kept my mothers hard earned SS "contributions" and told my sister and I to F OFF....

One less "winner" in the SS scheme.

"F" them!!!! They demonized Bush for taxpayers wanting to choose to designate their own SS contributions,.....BUT NO!!!! The Feds, keep it, and screw the families, and individuals that earned it.

One aspect of of this Gov't regardless of party, that is Bullsh**.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.
