The Quaker is back from Montana
« on: July 30, 2010, 12:53:29 AM »
I stand stunned at the silence following this news. ;D Short version? A great trip with the old man, many trout caught, pretty scenery viewed, good food eaten (Basically for free as Mt. has no sales tax. If you like great food, screw NY, go to Livingston.). On the amusing front, I was nearly eaten by a bear (twice), a badger once, and lost a sweet job to a Griz as three dumb asses (or at least one dumbass who caused collateral damage) failed to police their campsite. This caused the offer of a camp ground host at Slough Creek, one of the premire trout streams in the US to be rescinded. Seriously, I was looking at a four hour day  within rock throwing distance of one of the best trout streamds out there. It was deemed "too dangerous" by the Ranger. I'll give you "too dangerous". I propose a 4 day DRTV camp out and bacon fry. The bear will last 5 minutes. ;D Se la vie. ::) Details to follow.
FQ13 who really wants the Ruger Alaskan in .454 and wonders if suggesting to the Ranger that the bear problem could be solved in about 48 hours by hanging a dead deer in a meadow with a 400 yard line of sight, hardening the F%^K up, and just shooting the SOB without filling out the paper work , was an unwise interview strategy? I obviously have spent too much time studying the Tombogan school of diplomacy, but honestly, how hard is it to kill a bear if you know where it lives? Get off my obstacle Pyle! ;D

Welcome back. Post pix if you have any.

Welcome back...

Someone was killed outside Jellystone this week by a Griz....and a few others injured.  I did think of you and your dad when it was first reported.

Treasure the experience, Quaker, and file it away in the "easily retrievable" memory banks.  You just created a tremendous bit of history with your Old Man.  That is beyond value.

Offered by an envious Crusader whose own Dad spent Tuesday through Thursday in the hospital with an internal bleed of undetermined origin.*

*Turned out to be a perforated ulcer caused by NSAIDs used to treat painful hips and knees.  He's back in his own home now, and resting comfortably.  Sister stepped up and is taking care of him proving even a loony-lefty can do the right thing on occasion.
