Overall I think I have done best with CCI ammo.  A lot of .22 firearms seem to be  brand dependent or even lot number dependent for accuracy.  For now, I wouldn't mess with the rifle.  If you take the stock off and put it back on I wouldn't be surprised to see the groups change.  The tightness (or looseness) of the stock mounting screw can have a big impact on accuracy.
I thought I read once that the Target 10-22s had a little more attention to the trigger group from the factory.  Did you get an older one with the metal trigger guard assembly, or a knewer one with the plastic parts?

Lot's of tips., tricks, and techniques here and elsewehere on this site.  Although the 10-22 target does not fit the definition of SuperStock the advice is still very good.  These guys can almost get fanatical.

For other Ruger 10-22 stuff and anything rimfire in general it's hard to beat the stuff found somewhere here:

Thanks for the links Blackwolfe.   I do check in with RFC now and then and they are a great resource for all things RF.

I am a great proponent of free floating barrels.   This particular one is just seated ever so slightly in the stock.   If accuracy is going to be affected by the stock then it will change with the weather.  Better to find out now than say go to a match in the late fall and discover I can't hit anything.

It is a more recent vintage with plastic parts.   The trigger is okay, not great.   If I can shoot MOA groups with it, then I'm not going to mess with it.    It is by far the best of about 6 different .22lr I've ever owned including an early model (1980s) 10/22.

I give Ruger a 2 thumbs up for the improvements in accuracy they've made to the 10/xx and the Mini-xx line recently.

Just got around to scanning the last target.

Here's what the Ruger 10/22 will do at 100 yds.   I think the flyers were more me.  Even so, under 1.5"  WOW.

Can't say enough good things about it.

i'm shocked it was that good,  most 10/22s are in the 6" range at 50 yards.

rim fire ammo is kind of funny, guns even made one right after the other will shoot drasticly diffrent.

Your supposed to use the gun to fire the bullet not throw them freehand!
6" group you got parkinsons?  ???  ;D

Hell, I shot a 8" group with a 107 year old rifle with loose sights at 50 yards.  I've never shot a 10/22 but I would expect they can out shoot my Savage 1903 pump...

I was mucho shocked.  The one I owned 20 years ago and the mini-14s as well could barely do 6" at 50yds.

But this is a new generation.  Ruger is starting to realize that accuracy counts.  This one has a tapered bull barrel and a reasonable trigger.

I held my breath with each shot.  Thinking, this is a fluke, this is a fluke.   I'll go back on Friday and try again.

I'll back up the mini-14 not getting better than 6" at 50 yards.  So will Crusader.  It was his gun.

mini 14 is one of two guns I've ever sold.  could not keep it on a pie plate at 100 no matter what.  I can hit clay birds at 100 np with my m1.  same with my nylon 66 or my model 60 with the right ammo.

you don't aim 10/22s you point them.

I've seen a bunch of $200 model 60s right from the box out shoot $1000 10/22s

I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
