Couple of new toys.
« on: August 05, 2010, 11:55:18 PM »
I just finished bringing a few new toys home and got around to finishing my 10/22 build. I picked up a pair of Mitchell Mausers at my local shop, one is a collectors grade 98k and the other a m63 tanker in 8mm but the one I'm most proud of is my 10/22 thats been on by work bench of the last 2 weeks. I finally got around to it this afternoon and now all i need to do is go to the range and test her out.

I hope you did not buy the Mitchells for Collector value as they have a reputation for being renumbered over priced fakes.
That does not take away from the fact that they have been polished (check the numbers and stamps, they are blurred from the polishing) and cleaned up real nice, Their Luger is worthless as a collector piece but the Maltese cross on the toggle looks cool.
Be sure to give us a range report on the M63, I like the looks of it, be sure to let us know what ammo and bullet wieght you use in it.
Love the 10/22  ;D

I hope the Mausers shoot as good as they look for you, and the 10/22 looks sweet! Congrats on the new additions.

My 1891 Argentine Mauser, (7.65mm) with steel butt plate, can make one's shoulder a wee bit sore after a few stripper clips.

Looking forward to a range report.

I shot 75 rounds of 190 + gr. surplus 8MM through one I had , pounded the crap out of me  ;D
I would expect the same or worse from the smaller, lighter rifle, even with lighter bullets.

Range report is coming soon. Ammo of choice is my own 175 grain load that wont tear you up, and I have a 198 grain load that is used for hunting only. As far as how many Mausers I own these two make it six. My 10/22 all i have to do is dial her in.
M63 .308
m63  8mm
98k x2 8mm
Argentine 7mm

7MM is a nice round, I had a 1895 DWM Chilean Mauser years ago but ammo is more expensive   :'(

Can you give the details on the 10-22, barrel, stock, other modifications and upgrades?
