Well, that's nice. Of course he is a trained professional and in Illinois only trained professionals are allowed to carry concealed. After all, we're just careless, hapless civilians and we might do something stupid with a gun, like, oh, I don't know, leave it on the roof of the car and drive off after forgetting about it?

Wow.... he really needs to be more careful. what if a small kid got to it and he started shooting at people thinking he was playing army or something.

There have been several similar cases over the years, including two that I know of by chiefs of police, one of them from my alma mater PD.  Most officer guns get left in restrooms stalls.

Maybe 5-6 years ago I found a black canvas alongside the road, along with other stuff, had a badge, ID, and gun.  I called the officer and he had a uniformed patrol officer pick it up, never so much as a thank you.

Wow what a nightmare.

What kind of cop carries a gun without one in the chamber? Oh ya, I guess the kind that puts his gun on top of car.

I hope they find it... But i think its gone.
