The Glades - TV Show
« on: August 10, 2010, 05:34:03 PM »
Okay their geography is mucho screwed up and the extras can't act, but I'm getting a kick out of this new "B" grade detective show, "The Glades".  I had a copy of the script for the pilot last month and read it on vacation.  Some weird twists, but could be a sleeper show.   Mostly I'm getting a kick out of the lead character, played by Matt Passmore,  who has an attitude.   I'm becoming more like that myself.

I also like Carlos Gomez, whose had lots of one episode parts, but I think this is a major supporting role for him.   I remember seeing him in one episode of NCIS and thought he did an excellent job of acting.  I think even after Glades he'll be starring in other series, not just doing single shows.

Oh and yes the cop does carry a gun, though he's yet to shoot it.

They sure do hide the filming well, reminds me of the Miami Vice Days, and CSI Miami, token filming locally, the rest done in California studios....

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

There was a reference to Tampa in the pilot and in another episode.  But he's suppose to be out in "the glades".   Think Loxahatchee.  Yet many scenes show big city.   Maybe he's guarding the Oldsmar tunnel (Tampa Bay joke)   'Course you don't have to get far outside Brandon or Sarasota to find swamp and alligators.

You must've missed seeing the pilot.  He shot an alligator.

Wasn't he teaching the kid how to shoot and didn't he kill an aligator?

What Glades? Sorry, but most of its condos these days. :'( I'll watch it, but it sounds like a good series if it were 1985 outside).
