Results of some horse tradin'...
« on: August 17, 2010, 05:53:43 PM »
Well, I'm always on the lookout for stuff.  Now I need to sell a few of the safe-queens-that-never-get-fondled to fund these.

I bought a 1918 manufactured Colt 1911 a while back but it turned out to be refinished.  Sold it and just picked this up this morning.  1943 manufactured Remington Rand.  All parts are correct for a RR.  Surprisingly tight for an old slabsides.

I have a Mossberg 500 that I've turned into a pseudo 590...but I've always Jonesed for an actual 590.  Found this one that sat in a safe with 10 rounds through it.  Now it is mine.

I like lever guns...and have shot a Win92 in cowboy action for years.  But ever since seeing Jimmy Stewart in "Winchester 73" as a kid I've always wanted an 1873.  CDNN has some Chaparral's but I have hesitated since Chap has a variable reputation for quality (stiff actions, crappy triggers, so so wood).  I had a weak moment last time I called CDNN when I found out their 20" barreled versions were the short rifles (20" octagonal)...that's the config that floats my boat.  So I took a chance.  This one is fairly nice...the action is smooth and easy to run.  The trigger is light and crisp.  The wood isn't great but it also isn't a $900 Uberti either.  I think it will be a fun shooter...and it has that great "ting" sound of the carrier when you rack the action.

Congrats, KPR, Love the Lever action. Really sweet. When you decide to "clear a section of your safe'(s)" please let us know.

I have the Uberti 45Colt SAA, with Damascus finish, and love it.

Something about the simple lines and features of those old 1911's has quite the charm and beauty.

and well, the 12g, is Zombie approved right out of the gate. 8)

Thanks for the pics.

Oh if you come across an old Ithaca or Savage 12g let me know.... ;)

If Remington's new 1911 R1 looked as classy as that Rem. Rand, i.e . without the gaudy R1 on the slide!...I'd probably own one by now.
Best Wishes, Mike.

You will never regret that 590. I had one and traded it years ago and still regret it. No other zombie gun compares. The ghost rings make it good with slugs, the saftey is on top where it belongs and the shell holding stock is a plus. Good pick up.
