Another cool site, thank you.

It seems a simple chest rig for the Ak is going to prove difficult to get.
Here is a cheaper work around. Its no longer available from Cheaper Than Dirt, but someone will have one. I did something simlar with my AR. I bought 2, 6 mag bandoleer style shoulder strap carriers with six mag pouches. Over the shoulder, out the door, and good to go. $16 each. This bag seems solid, holds 5 mags, and though its over the shoulder, should work.
good luck

Did you see the AKAR AK attack rack or was it just a little more than what you were looking for?

Not what I was looking for but you got me wanting me to order a couple anyhow and give them a try until I get TW's suggested EagleRig . At worst they look like they will be good for the extended-fight-setup or go-bag-accessory. Thanks for the link bafsu

I know AR's are the in vogue as of late, but you might want to consider the usage of AK's and Dragunov's  in the next season of TBD, so these common questions are answered. I am seeing an influx of AK and Dragunov related questions(along with surplus rifles chambered alike) at the Shop. So much so, this is the original reason for my practicing/playing/aggravation with one in the first place.  >:(
If I should repost this in another Chat Room on DRTV Forum let me know.  ???
This is VERY far from my strong suit, so I will not be offended.  :-[
Thanks,

The AR craze seems like its hit its peak. The BO panic seems to have ebbed (though stay tuned for election results). Folks like me who did panic and bought an EBR they didn't really need now think that maybe they could find a better use for that $1200. This is particularly true for those who bought the "tacticool" coffee grinder for the quad rail. ::) AKs meanwhile are back to close to '07 prices, around $400. I was in Bozeman recently and went to a camping/gun store. It seems BillT's brother had gotten a divorce and had to sell his gun collection. :o ;D. There were 4 (I swear I'm not making this up) matched sets of Stag ARs with all the trimmings. Two in M-4 configuration, two with a flat top 20" barrel etc. ;D Anyway, they were priced high, but fair. Then there was the set of two (again I'm not kidding) AKs. They were just Wassers, a bit beat on and priced around $335. Not a bargain, but fair. What did strike me was this, the price of the mags. The guy had sold a ton. The AR mags (mostly P-mags) were at market value. But there was God's own stash of AK mags. These were unissued Bulgarian com bloc mil surp steel at $20 a pop, and $15 a throw if you bought all 20 of them. If I'd had the cash, it would have been worth buying the rifle just for the mags and the stupidly cheap cases of tin sealed Norinco ammo the guy was selling (about $.20 per round). I just couldn't swing it, but it does indicate to me that folks have fixated on ARs for so long that AKs have been neglected. When the panic buyers start selling their guns and there are a fait number of cheap(er) ARs out there, I would expect to see AKs and accessories like mags to go even lower. I might be wrong, but I think that a lot more folks will start going AK for the same reasons they always have, to save money on a reliable SHTF weapon.
Just my .02

Scary huh? Don't worry, it won't last. ;) Seriously, I really do think the AR thing has been played out. I like mine, but I was set on an AK until a "deal" came up on an AR (and it was a deal at the time). $680 and change for a DPMS Sportical and P-mags at $11 a pop with the gun. It was $100 below market, but $150 more than its actually objectively worth IMHO. :-\ I like my rifle  and I won't part with it, but honestly? An AK would have been a better fit for my needs. I think more folks are starting to realizze that now that the "now or never" attitude is waning. I could be wrong though.

I'm still buying P-Mags (black with windows) all day long for around $11 as long as I do 10 or more at a time. If I buy bigger lots I can get closer to $10ea. If anyone wants to go in on a bulk buy with me shoot me an IM - sorry for the hijack  ;D

Nothing wrong with stocking up, Col. Jeff Cooper's advice was always one to keep personal stocks high.

In today's world, and current Admin,  there is nothing wrong with that.

If the AR/AK panic has played out,...great...It is still a stroke of a pen, from creating another panic buy.

And never forget:

"I hear that small arms ammunition in South Africa has practically disappeared from the store shelves. Either people are wisely stocking up, or some arm of the government has decided to cut off the supply. In that regard, I advise you to keep your own stocks in good shape. Our enemies may not be able to abrogate the constitution just yet, but there are economic and political means by which they may dry up our ammunition supply."
Jeff Cooper

"I would add another reason - practice. Anyone who has ever been deeply involved in warfare knows that the only way to learn to fight is to fight. This may not be a popular view with the grass eaters, but I defy them to disprove it."
Jeff Cooper

Wish Col. Cooper were still with us, but he is in spirit, and his advice is not a bad thing.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.
