The French grow a pair?

Well, maybe I wont go that far, but this is encouraging.

French senate approves burqa ban

Paris, France (CNN) -- The French senate approved Tuesday a law banning any veils that cover the face -- including the burqa, the full-body covering worn by some Muslim women -- making France the first European country to plan such a measure.

The law passed by a vote of 246 to 1, with about 100 abstentions coming essentially from left-leaning politicians.

The legislation was overwhelmingly approved by the lower house of parliament in July and will go into effect next spring.

The law imposes a fine of 150 euros ($190) and/or a citizenship course as punishment for wearing a face-covering veil. Forcing a woman to wear a niqab or a burqa will be punishable by a year in prison or a 15,000-euro ($19,000) fine, the government said, calling it "a new form of enslavement that the republic cannot accept on its soil."

Let's see if they keep their "pair"....

The french go down like a prom dress. I think that a bunch of girl scouts could take over that country.

Boy, are you a bunch of Dumb asses.
First, Sarcozy has been telling Obummer to MTFU for a while now, and France has not been as wimpy since he took office,
about 4 years ago.
Secondly, those aren't French soldiers, any one with eyes can clearly see the Legion Crest on their beret's

And the so-called "weird ass rifle" is a FAMAS bullpup, one of the better of the modern bullpups available to the military forces today.

And bayonets are knives too - they don't have to fit the rifle, especially on a bullpup.

I'm no Frencie-lover, but you need to remember, it was normally the leaders who surrendered. I have seen French military and police up close, and some of them are tough-ass MFers. Remember the French Resistance in WWII.
