Need a little help here before Reid can get it to pass

Dream Act Could Come Up Next Week
We've got quite the battle over the next few days in the U.S. Senate. Majority Leader Harry Reid is trying to make the Dream Act Amnesty an election day issue with the mid-terms less than two months away.

Thank you for all the calling and faxing you've done over the last few days. Here's a look at what we face between now and Tuesday.

Yesterday, Majority Leader Reid filed a cloture motion to begin debate on the Defense Authorization bill. The vote is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21, and we expect Reid to try to attach the Dream Act Amnesty to this bill. Whether it will be part of the bill at 2:15 p.m. or will be introduced separately as an amendment later in the week seems to be still up in the air.

Senators will vote on whether or not to START DEBATE on the Defense bill. Sixty votes are required for cloture.

Should Reid secure enough votes on Tuesday to open debate, some sources say he may suspend debate until after the mid-term elections. Others say, he may bring up the Dream Act as an amendment later next week.

Regardless of the scenario, your message to Senators remains constant: keep the Dream Act Amnesty out of the Defense bill.

It is possible that the only way to stop the Dream Act is to vote down the entire Defense bill. Would that jeopardize national defense?

No. The Defense Authorization bill is not a spending bill. It simply provides authorization from Congress for the Department of Defense to operate.

Roy's alert from Friday morning provides a detailed list of where each Senator stands and who should be the focus of your calls, and his blog discusses six different reasons of why the Dream Act is bad.

Share the lists and his blog with your friends and family and on your social networks. We'll post updates to our front page, on our Facebook page, and through our Twitter feed as we learn of them.

Thanks for all you've done so far. Since Tuesday, you've sent 146,716 faxes and made thousands of phone calls. But the Dream Act supporters are throwing a ton of resources at this vote by providing a variety of different ways they can contact their Senators, so we need you to make these calls more than ever!

THANKS,
Chris Chmielenski

PHONE THESE SENATORS TO VOTE 'NO' -- OR DREAM AMNESTY WILL PASS NEXT WEEK

By Roy Beck, Friday, September 17, 2010
SENATE SWITCHBOARD -- 202-224-3121 Friends, we don't yet have the 41 sure NO votes that we must have to stop the DREAM Act amnesty in the Senate next week. Scroll down to see the lists of the top phoning targets today. And don't put off your calls. They are desperately needed today. Pro-amnesty forces claim that their super-expensive, special toll-free telephone system processed 5,000 pro-amnesty phone calls to Senators yesterday. They brag that they expect to be handling 10,000 pro-amnesty calls a day until the DREAM Act amnesty passes! Friends, we have to match them.

Even If You Favor Amnesty For Some Illegal Teens, This DREAM Act Must Be Stopped

By Roy Beck, Wednesday, September 15, 2010
ABC quoted me as saying that there is no question that many of the teenagers who would get an amnesty through the DREAM Act make for "compelling" cases. But I'm also quoted saying that this DREAM amnesty should not be passed. Take a look at the key reasons . . .

YOUR PHONING YESTERDAY WAS PHENOMENAL -- MORE NEEDED TODAY TO STOP DREAM ACT AMNESTY

By Roy Beck, Wednesday, September 15, 2010
Currently we are being beat by anti-immigrants 10 calls to 1. That means for every 1 call you make in support 10 people are calling against the DREAM Act. -- Pro-Amnesty Group's Alert From Last Night HERE ARE TOP SENATE TARGETS Your phoning of Senate offices yesterday opposing a vote on amnesty as early as next week dismayed the national coalition of open-borders groups. They had begun their own phone campaign earlier in the day and had hoped to show Senators that the nation is clamoring for another amnesty. Your reaction to my mid-afternoon alert was incredible.

DREAM Amnesty Threat; ACT NOW TO STOP IT

By Roy Beck, Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Friends, we need your phone calls and faxes immediately to counter a gigantic nationwide amnesty push that began a few hours ago. The Senate is being bombarded with demands today that it pass the DREAM Act amnesty during the next three weeks before Congress adjourns for final campaigning. It now is possible that there could be an amnesty vote as early as next week! ACTION 1: Send free faxes to your 3 Members of Congress. They are posted on your Action Board at www.numbersusa.com/actionbuffet.
