40 Years Ago Today, And A Tribute For Saturday Night

The one and only Jimi Hendrix died. His influence as a guitar player has inspired all that came after him. However, strip away the glam, glitter, and drugs, he was one hell of a musician, especially to his roots in the blues, and yes even jazz.

Served in the 101st Airborne, (given the choice of 2 years prison, or the Army, he chose the latter),.....discharged after one year.
Had a problem with regulations, and couldn't shoot worth a damn, plus broke his ankle on a parachute jump.

RIP Jimi, the mold is still broken after your death. But thank you for your legacy of music.

Here's one of my favorite blues songs he performed, and an acoustic tune, no amps, effects, and truly unplugged. By all means, turn it up.

I might also add the phenomenal talent of Billy Cox (bass), and Mitch Mitchell (drums). The only two that could keep up with him.

Cool......Jimi influenced a lot of folks.

Always liked Red House.....this video has him playing an SG instead of a Strat.

Jimi was one of the greats, just like Stevie  Ray,  where would they be now? May I suggest this video of Gary Moore, a brit who is a bad to the bone guitar player,  from Leo Fenders 50th anniversary , Gary Moore doing Red House.One of my faves.
