ccw carry?
« on: March 23, 2007, 09:42:36 AM »
Ok, i am seeking opinions.

I carry a ruger p90 DC stainless. I admit that sometimes it seems heavy and a bit akward. Other times it is very comfortable to carry.

I have had several injuries, and i am an older person now.

I have looked at other weapons to carry, such as the glock. I have large hands and it is very hard for me to hold on to the smaller weapons like the glock, so i carry the larger ruger.

I like autos but, i have even given thought to the revolver as a carry weapon. I used to shoot a mark III trooper and liked it, but it is kinda big to carry.

I understand shot placement is better considered then size of the bullet.

So I would like to see some different opions on carry.

Thanks.

Have you tried the GLOCK 21? It's lighter than the P90 due to the Polymer frame, holds 13 rounds, And still has a big comfortable grip. But it's not that much thicker than the P90, so it's just as concealable.

The double stack Glock has the largest handle you can find. I suggest a full size Glock in .45 or .40 I carry a G-22 and its a handfull.

I just went over the same story w/ a customer last week elshadow001, the P90 has lost the friendly carry due to the weight of the gun. Well not to worry man Ruger has the new, last year, P345 polymer frame, with all kinds of awards. I have personally clanged a gong @ 100yds. 8 for 8 w/ 185gr.+P golden saber. The gun can shoot man and IMHO the P345D is the way to go. But if you are into the flip up safty then stick w/ it.
Just saying man

And if you don't mind going from .45 to 9mm, Rugers P95 has a polymer grip frame, like the Glock, with the same controls and familitarity you have with your P90.  It is quite a bit lighter, and has a full size grip and 15 round capacity.

Frontstrap to backstrap the P95 is smaller than the 345 but quite a bit thicker. Great choice though. And if you like the P95 or better yet do not mind the caliber change then by all means man check out the new S&W M&P line. A W E S O M E pistols that if the dealer has any pride, will change the grips(which is supersimple) and see which fits. They even have it in 45 for ya . ;D

I haven't figured out how to totally conceal it yet but I have a Springfield Armory Tactical XD45.  The five in version is a little big to conceal (which is weird because I conceal a Government 1911 without a problem)

Maybe a 1911.

To conceal a large auto you may  try "appendix" carry. I carry my G-22 this way. With the right holster its amazing how comfortable it is. "sweatnbullets" gave me the tip on this and the right holster, a Don Hume.
