The U.N Building should go Condo!
« on: September 23, 2010, 06:11:34 PM »
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad suggests the Sept. 11 terror attacks were essentially a U.S. plot while addressing the U.N. General Assembly, causing the U.S. delegation to walk out while some in the audience applaud his comments.  As reported on www.foxnews.com.

At what point do we say enough is enough?  It's bad enough when this kind of monkeyshines takes place, but we also have an administration that thinks the UN is better at governing the U.S. ie the proposed Small Arms Treaty discussions, as well the Arizona Immigration Law.  They pass resolutions like gall stones at a nursing home!  I know to BHO the UN is like Fantasy Land.  The perfect vehicle for the New World Order.  No more countries, no more individual rights, all enforced by a UN Police Force.  Rant Over!

One needs to remember that as concieved, the UN is a good idea. It was supposed to be a forum where diplomacy could take place to avoid war, wars of aggression could be deterred, and common cross border problems like refugees, pollution, natural disasters etc. could be dealt with collectively. All well and good. That stopped with bi-polarity in the Cold War. Now it could work, but not when they start dealing with intra-state ther than inter-state issues. If they stick to fishing rights and detering things like Gulf War I or a repeat of the Korean War, its all well and good. Otherwise, one does have to wonder what the point is beyond demanding a North South flow of resources.

That is the mistake that makes it unworkable. If I want your crap, I'm going to come take it. These people learned nothing from their sell out at Munich.

Actually, Tom, it's more fundamental than that. As conceived, it is an absolutely ridiculous idea. Wilson was an academic idiot who decided that a theory was a wonderful way to try to govern the world. He was - and still is, and always will be - wrong!

The idea that any piss-ant country in the world like Malawi has parity with the US, the idea that Libya has anything to offer - human rights or otherwise - etc., would be laughable is not so damned pathetic.

I don't recall having had any problems working out fishing rights etc. before the League, and after the UN's staggeringly huge inability to do much about anything other than serve as a hotbed of rights abrogation, sin, corruption and failure, I'd say the world would be far better off without the UN. It is not salvageable, because it is inherently flawed.
