Stinks, But I have to say, not a bad way to go in my book!  Out enjoying a beautiful day at sea on his beautiful ship.  He was in good health, was over pretty quick, fairly painless.

Hey Rat, you near Barnegat? That's one of the one's I was thinking of. Crazy water there...

Very nasty inlet at times. I lived in PA but had a friend dad who lived on LBI and ran a 42" Ocean. When he need someone for a charter I would shoot over and help him out.  Capt. Sam had an any vessel any ocean license and was a pretty good teacher. I learned boat handling, navigation, knots and fishing. His poor son got sea sick walking on the dock so I filled in

The only thing I miss in So. KY is the ocean and fishing. We would always go overnight for tuna on the full moon in Sept. I was thinking about that last week.

My reading interests may have given me a little more knowledge than the average non sailor, but of course nothing like you guys who actually DO it.
I posted based only on the photo's you posted.
I almost messed my pants looking at this last one, are the passengers done scraping their shorts yet ?

That and wild hardwood trees are why I will never permanently leave New Hampshire.
I've never been much of a boater, or fisherman, but I do like to have my options open.  ;D

Jupiter is a bad ass inlet. Its narrow, and generally straight into the wind. It also drains a whole lot of water. When the current runs against a stiff breeze? Its best to make the 60 mile detour to Palm Beach and back north. Trouble is, a lot of the return is in no wake zones so its a lot of hours and fuel. A lot of guys risk it. Most get away with it. Some times though? :'(.
