In most, if not all jurisdictions, if it was sent first class US Mail, it is a presumption in law that it was delivered.  Throwing it in the trash can be a very bad idea.  Call the jury clerk and explain the circumstances and never get your legal advice on forums.  Honesty is the best policy.

Wise words.     ;D
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

I have to argue that, honesty is all well and good, but I think the bit about not trusting your freedom to internet gossip is a much better policy.

I can agree with that, but I'll voice my opinion anyway:

Pick up the phone, and tell them you just received the letter.  Be open and up front ... unless you have been ignoring your mail, and it is really your own fault.

To all of you that feel missing this is a good thing, or that it is a responsibility to be ignored or avoided - Feel free to quit voting in elections, and quit whining about our elected officials and the actions they take!
The price of being a citizen in a free nation is participation in the process.  If you can't man up and do that, there are borders on all edges.

I am going to do some digging to find the story that I wrote down.  It is about a person that saw "them" coming for one group after another, but since it didn't affect him.  One day "they" came for him, and there was no one to protect him.  Wouldn't it be nice to have a jury some day if you need it?  I will post the story when I find it.

Its from Martin Niemoller. He was a Lutheran pastor. He initially supported Hitler as an anti-communist, than opposed him when he saw the rest of the agenda, and spent the war in Dachau.

The quote is as follows:

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

FQ beat me to it.
It's one of the few poems I ever bothered to memorize.

Never thought I say this, but Thank You FQ!

Just got off the phone with the clerk.

Seems lots of people got the same notice, its a misprint, she said they will be sending out new notices soon.

I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

In most, if not all jurisdictions, if it was sent first class US Mail, it is a presumption in law that it was delivered.

Do you have a source for this?
'Cause in every municipality I've lived in it's not even close to correct.
The US Mail is efficient but, run by humans, not infallible.
If it were, I would have never received my neighbor's (next door and  2 doors over on another street) Visa bill and they would not have gotten my AMEX bill. Twice.

In this current jurisdiction, photo tickets, jury summons, etc., are mailed, then if there is no response they must send out a process server or other officer of the court to HAND DELIVER to someone of responsible age at that address.
The only way to get around the "hand to hand" is if the server goes back to court and wants an "alternate service" order because of someone dodging the process server. Then they can hang it on the door or a gate and call it good.

You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.
