On closer inspection,  its not the tranny. its the torque converter.

now that everything is apart do I just go ahead and buy a new tranny or not?  hmmmm

Its only 800 bucks for a rebuild with a 3 year 36000 mile deal.  hmmmmm.

I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

You've done the hard part. If you trust the rebuild, why not? If your luck is like mine, you'll decide to "save" the $800 and the damn thing will fail by the new year. :-\

A new F150 monthly payment would average about 400 bucks a month.  Buy the tranny!

more like 600 for a 5 year loan, 500 for a 6 year loan.  figure 30k out the door.

Thats just a XLT with a v8, auto, air, pw/dl and a 8' bed.    The diffrence in price between the work trim truck with a v8 auto, air and a 8' bed vs the XLT is only about 1500 bucks.    The v8 and up graded tranny is like 4k option, over the v6 and a stick.

True, I was assuming a 20 percent down loan which today, at "no interest" loans is kind of silly....

I can afford a lot more car than I drive, my Ranger is big enough to do what I need it too and small enough that no one ever borrows it......

Just bought a new Tundra about 3 weeks ago. Had an 08 with 32k on it. Had 2 years left to pay with 6.45% interest. My payment was $476/month. The new one (2011) after making the deal, extended my loan 9 months but my payment went to $404 after financing at 2.9%. Also my insurance actually went DOWN, and they pay the maintainence for 2 years. Not quite sure how it happened but it was a good deal all the way around. (at least for me)

Say what you will about Toyota, but after driving one the last 3 years, I doubt I'll ever drive anything else. Just my experience, and opinion. YMMV.

I loved the Tundra my SIL had, I just don't have a need for a full size truck....probably the smoothest ride of anything I've driven, ever!

The range with the 4.0 v6 is a beast, its just that by the time you buy it with the 4.0, you are only a couple thousand less then the f150.  so might as well buy the f150, its alot more truck.

I have the 3.0 V6 in a 2003 Edge, 4 x 2.  It's plenty enough to tow the boat or small camper and more than enough to do the weekly dump run and antique with the wife.  Gets pretty crappy mileage though...maybe 15 mpg but it's paid for and only has 80K on her...

It's really the wifes truck.....paid $12,400.00 for it new....they were giving them away during a Nor-Easter....

Just finished filling it up with fuild.  Started right up.

New torque converter, seals, fly wheel... blah blah blah.  Yeah I know I'm taking a chance, but the way I look at it, the truck is old and worn out.  no reason to throw a bunch of money at it.

Its been raining pretty hard here, so I didn't exactly want to work on it... besides it gave me a reason to drive my wifes car around for a bit...   ;D

wouldn't you know it, the 1st time I turn on the wiper blades, one came off.  Always my luck...

atleast the rear view mirror has not come off yet.

Every car I have ever owned the rear veiw mirror has come off with in 2 days of me buying it...  luck I guess.
