And the other side will be armed with.....? Look, as the Founders said, as long as we do not pursue empire and try to occupy foriegn soil indefinately (Iraq, Afghanistan?), we have nothing to fear. John Quincy Adams put it best when he argued against American involvement in Greece's struggle against Turkey. Its a lesson a lot of our Presidents should have heeded.
FQ13

"[America] goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example. She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom."  .

You're joking, right ?  They might get man power from the countries like Fiji and Ukraine that get a lot of revenue from renting their troops out but since  we are usually paying the bill I doubt it, Equipment ? They could get that from Russia or China but the 2 Gulf wars showed their stuff (other than small arms ) to be second rate crap. I will not even get into the logistical impossability of such an idea.

A good rule of thumb for Govt's and politicians in general when faced with a "crisis" is "ignore it and it will probably go away". If not then kick the sh!t out of it and go home.
Case in point, The Barbary Pirates.
If you don't know that story google it.

You mean you doubt that Russian paratroopers could/would drop into a small town in Colorado? Tom, you're trampling my high school fantasies! Just please tell me that you didn't sleep with Senora Higgs, the Spanish teacher. Please....Please? ;D

Rest easy youngster, My Spanish teacher was about 60, overweight and did not appreciate my "independent studies"    ;D

Quote from FQ's post:

I have no doubt that they could, The Soviets were one of the first nations to pioneer air drops ( originaly they used AN 2 Cub's at very low altitude and very low speed, going into deep snow they didn't use parachutes   ::)  )  other than maybe Colorado Springs or NORAD I can't imagine why they would, (unless their navigators suck as bad as the maintenance guys do ).
The one thing I don't doubt is that when they used up the food and ammo they landed with they would be royally fu&ked, since they have never had the capability to supply an isolated unit at long range like that.

Mine was thirty, looked like Charro's younger sister, had a fur bed spread and mirrors on the ceiling. Sadly, I only know this because I owned a pickup truck and she was donating some furniture to Goodwill to benefit the high school. :'( Still, even though I can't speak the language worth a damn, I did enjoy the class. ;D
As to Russian airlift cababilities, the point is this. We are still defended by two oceans. A conventional attack is a guaranteed loser. Even if it wasn't no one has the sea and airlift to deploy and sustain one. Unless Putin gts trigger happy, Lincoln put it best.

All the armies of Europe and Asia...could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide."

Both very good points.
Why do you think Taiwan is still free, even China's vast population and resources are not able to project their power across a crummy 100 miles or less of water. They, like Russia, and Nazi Germany are continental power, they are not capable of projecting their power anywhere they can not walk, (or drive ) to
If we ever see "Blue helmets" on American streets it will be American Quisling's underneath them .The only real threat to American liberty comes from a Democratic Party that has been taken over by communists , socialists, and idiots.

I look forward to one day Voting for a Presidential Candidate who runs on a platform of taking the United States out of the U.N.

If the Tea Party keeps enjoying success, I think this will enter into the picture in due time. If for no other reason that we can no longer afford to waste money on it.  Bill T.
