Jumbo, I never thought you were such a bleeding heart.  Castration is waaay too good for these imps of Satan.  They should be immediately dispatched to Hell, but only after suffering a slow and torturous execution procedure.  The Chinese style "Death of a Thousand Cuts" might be a good start.

You are wrong TAB, Possession of Child porn is a criminal offense, There was a State Trooper up here who went to prison for it.

Child Porn, if the definition is a video, must be criminal because a child was used in them making.  Possession is a crime as is receiving stolen goods. 

If Child Porn is a book about sexual abuse of children, it should not be a crime...despicable, but no crime.

Agreed.  It is not their fault that they are a menace to society, but a menace they are and they should be removed from society as quickly as possible.  "Putting them down" is the humane thing to do.

Oh yeah, Amazon has lost my business for good and I am spreading the word as best I can about this abuse of the first amendment.

But the thought crossed my mind that as obnoxious as we find this subject, isn't that the whole point of the first amendment ? Never mind our own personal cultural bias's . The Amendments are there not to protect popular idea's ( this is written material so it actually is covered by the "Free Press clause, unlike Flag burning and the nonexistent "Freedom of expression ) Popular idea's need no protection .
Is this a matter of Free speech/press, or is it aiding and abetting the commission of felonies ?
before you comment, consider if your opinion would apply equally to books about bank robbery or murder.

Didn't the courts slap the pee=pee of Palladin Press several years ago over their publishing and sale of the guide on how to be a hit-man?  One would think that any prosecuting attorney worth a damn (a lot to ask of a lawyer, I realize) could put together the same kind of case in this instance.

There is, or shouldn't be, anything wrong with publishing or selling the book as long as it doesn't include kiddie porn. Still, it doesn't mean that possesing it shouldn't constitute a parole violation or be taken into evidence in a fresh case. Honestly its not only Unconstitutional, but stupid to ban it. If you do that, the author will just post it online and you'll never find out who owns it. Let him publish and you can supenoa the sales records as needed.

Is this any different than all the books that came out that had Bush being assassinated?

I have a couple of issues with this:

For one, it advocates the engagement in illegal behavior. ( child molestation )

Second, who is the author? It wouldn't shock me to find out that he's a convicted sex offender. If that is indeed the case, couldn't it be argued that he is profiting from his crimes?

Lastly, if you are going to make the free speech argument, then why can I buy this book, but not the Anarchist's Cookbook?

The jury is still out as to whether Amazon has lost my business. I have had nothing but good experience with them. However, I do believe in integrity. This could be someone there making an unreviewed decision. Although, the response from customer service makes me doubt that. I will see what Amazon does about this in the next few days.

Every time I have looked I find that no one carries it. One vender listed it as banned. This was a few years ago, so not sure what the current status is.
