Keep in mind that I have not grown a whole lot since I was 13 years old so my reply might not apply to all ...

Because a majority isn't a majority until it gets organized. Until it does, its just a bunch of guys milling around and bitching. The only majority that matters is "The largest number of political actors organized, united and moving towards a common agenda". The rest can pound sand as far as public oficials are concerned. Unless and until we organize, we aren't a majority, just bystanders. Here endeth the lesson.
