as far as shotguns go, you have 3 choices, a Winchester 97 (or clone) a SxS Hammer gun ( in 12,16 or 20 gauge) Or a Hammerless SxS in 12,16 or 20 gauge. I would suggest a SxS in 12 gauge, you can get light loads (Winchester Featherlites) or use load data to roll your own low recoil ammo. a lot of folks think because a 20 is smaller it will have less recoil, that isn't the case. A 20 gauge is usually built on a smaller/lighter frame so it has more kick. With the same load (7/8th ounce shot moving about 1000 fps) the 12 will feel like it has less kick because of the shorter shot column. Shotgun fit is very important as well.

I just realized a 4th choice, The Winchester 87 leveraction, Big on style points, but an original will set you back around $1000 and I've heard of some problems with the chinese clones.

Hope this helps.

Tom, the only problem with the Colt revolving shotgun is you can only load 2 rounds at a time, under SASS rules, reloading it would be VERY time consuming, Non of the CAS shooters would buy it.
