Finding NRA competition really ..... uh.... sucks. They still don't get the whole interactive, on-line thing. They are stuck in the paper publication paradigm. You have to read their on-line magazine, Shooting Sports,
http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/nra/ssusa_201011 , to find out where the matches are. It's free on-line, but there are just three itsy, bitsy,
minor problems.
-- Even though it's on-line, the listing are still 3 months old. Unbelievable as it sounds, if you read the fine print clubs have to get their listings in 3 months ahead of time.
-- They don't tell you the actual club "names", but just give you the general city/state and an email address. Sometime, they don't even give the email, just a mailing address. Sometimes a phone number. This makes it harder to fine on-line information about the match.
-- Lastly, they don't provide any links (links as in URLs) to the web sites for the club or match.
It's very frustrating.
Here's what I recommend. Find all the possible clubs and ranges in your area and check their calendars. That's a much better way to figure out where local matches. There are many clubs that hold various forms of local competition in addition to "sanctioned" competitions like NRA. Local range here holds a Tuesday night .22 match which includes a "poker" shoot. With a .22 you can also compete in IHMSA shooting, as well as bullseye.
