Obama Picks a Director For the A.T.F.

Nearly two years into his term, President Obama on Monday finally chose a director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Mr. Obama will submit the name of Andrew Taver, the special agent in charge of the bureau’s Chicago field division, to the Senate for consideration, the White House said. He may face a confirmation fight; after Congress changed the position to make it one requiring Senate confirmation, President George W. Bush’s nominee was blocked by senators who used it to criticize the enforcement of gun laws against firearms dealers.

If they are taking a guy "off the street" and putting him in charge I will reserve judgment.
I am however concerned that Obummer approves of him and that he is from the Chicago office.

BTW, it is TRAVER.  NY times can't even spell names correctly anymore.

Time to call and write our senators.


Since they can't use race as an issue, anyone want to bet how long it takes for the 'administration' to cry that anti-Traver folks are 'bashing the poor guy who had cancer'. I'm like one guy in the article, I'm very glad the guy beat cancer (a dreadful disease)....but I still don't think we need him running BHO's ATF.

Di we really expect an avowed anti-2A president (small case p is on purpose in this case) to nominate a PRO-Gun person to ANY job, let alone head of the ATF?  (On a side note, I STILL think that sounds like the name for a convenience store)
