Hey, I buy my wife that kind of stuff because she needs it (I use it too) and prefer spending the money so she doesn't have to!  I also buy good stuff for her and give her $$$$ so she has a little "Mad Money" for "just the right shoes to go with that _____ dress! or whatever".

FWIW

My wife is a little different...anyone who knows her will tell you that. Some of her favorite Christmas presents from me:
4" Belt sander
Reciprocating saw
Set of Jewelers Pliers and cutters
Ruger GP 161
Bernina Sewing Machine
Full set of spackling knives
Emerald and diamond ring
Antique brace and bit set

(Gotta go "girlie" once-in-a-while.
I got the blues as my companion.

If the Diamond brokers and Jewelry Stores really wanted to sell more Diamonds...they would run an ad campaign similiar to the one below with the caption reading.

Diamonds, Now she'll pretty much have to!

I was married two years before my wife asked me how to turn on the vacuum cleaner. She should have been in the doghouse.

the war dept does like house care stuff. but.... when it comes to sewing etc.. she has no clew, nor wants to know. I bought an antique Singer sewing machine a couple years back and she doesn't want to learn! beautiful machine. didn't buy it for her, but when she spends money to sew what she can do at home I get frustrated.!!!!! I'm the only one in the damn house that knows how to use a sewing machine!!!!!  AAAAGAGAGAHAHGAGAHH!!!!!!  WTF???
she's already in the doghouse.. for those of you who are questioning..

I'm getting my wife something to match what I got her 2 years ago,  which was a tennis bracelet white gold, 7.1 k  diamonds and saphires.  How I wraped it was great, it really impressed the inlaws.   I put it as a neckless on a stuff bear, that had a bow wraped around it its neck and attached to the box, so when she pulled it out to show every one, the ribbon came off.   ;D

last year I go her car, which some jack ass totaled.

I'm still debating between ear rings and a pendent.  Money is really tight this year so we will see how things go.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
