I have a gunvault bolted under the rear seat of my truck. I carry but put it inthere when i get to work. Other wise I don't think you should leave a gun in the vehicle all the time. I do keep a knife and baton in the door compartment.
A bird in the hand is worth..Well, about a box of shells!
Yes, I'm bitter and cling to guns and religion..

+1 cookie, I keep an 15" piece of 575MCM Industrial 9 strand cable right next to me.  It's got the diameter of a Silver Dollar and I call it my "Mr. BeGood." I can barely bend it.

After a time or two upside a BG's head, or anyother part of the body, that Mr.,,,will be good...,,,,,and quite done. Plus, as an electrician, having a stout piece of cable in my van is just a "part of the job".... ::)
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

I don't carry as much as I'd want to. Too often these days I wind up at the library, courthouse or post office where even leaving the gun in the car is a felony and I'm not going to go there. I carry my Delica always (you can check it at the courthouse). Otherwise, I prefer to be armed. I'd like to get a can of pepper spray for the truck, but temperatures down here prevent that. Sad to say, I've got enough crap behind the seats of my truck to make me feel ok stashing my gun if I'm running in someplace I can't carry (I generally stuff it underneath Hoffa's body :-[ ;D). No way in hell will anyone find it in a quick smash and grab.

Most of the time except at work I have my 1911, once you get used to it and realize you have to dress around the gun you will only notice when it isn't there,If  I can carry a Govt model 1911 on my scrawny 148 pound frame in our 90 degrees and 90% humidity, no one else has a valid excuse for not carrying where legal.  If I have my pants on I have my P-32, always in the same pocket. moving your SD weapon around to different pockets and carry methods and only carrying "sometimes" pretty much assures that when you NEED it, if you even have it with, you or Mel will die before you remember where the hell you left or stuck it.
If it is to do you any good it has to be as much of a habit as swallowing after chewing, or wiping after a dump.
