PITTSBURGH -- A spokesman for US Airways has confirmed that a dog got loose on board a plane, and the captain decided to divert to Pittsburgh.

According to the airline's Todd Lehmacher, Flight 522 was a nonstop flight from Newark to Phoenix but was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport on Monday morning.

Lehmacher said the company's policy is to allow pets in the plane's cabin if the pet and its cage can fit under a seat. The policy also states that the pet may not be let out of the cage.

According to the airline, the passenger who brought the dog on board the plane did let the animal out. Lehmacher said the dog got loose and bit another passenger and a flight attendant.

The flight was diverted to Pittsburgh by the pilot and medical personnel met the plane to treat the bite victims for minor injuries.

US Airways is trying to get the rest of the passengers back on track to Phoenix, Lehmacher said.

I'm not the half empty guy...  I'm the " I ordered a cheeseburger" guy

If they were a bunch of AKC folks, they just hit the jack pot " I can never goto another dog show again, I'm too afraid the plane will crash"  thats big bucks right there   ;D

We could always name the little beast Osama. No Osama, bad dog!, and whack it with a news paper. ;D Hell think of the money Al Queada could have saved. No shoe bombs, butt bombs or mail bombs. Just one little yappy dog and a dumbass. Those are dime a dozen and apparently net the same result. A diverted plane, pissed off passengers and headlines. ;D
