I want to say this is nothing bad, but a quick prayer to ease some anxiety might help.
Many of you might remember my wife going through cancer treatment last year for Hodgkins Lymphoma. Well, she had her latest CT scan last month and all was clear so the docs said she could get her IV port taken out of her upper chest area. They were going to do it in January, but since our deductible has been met this year, she asked them to move it up to December and they agreed.
Anyway, today is the day and she is pretty nervous because it will be done in the office with a local anesthetic, unlike when it was put in in the OR at the hospital, under general anesthesia. I told her it won't hurt and it will not be any more trouble than when they did her biopsy in the office. I think the length of the IV tube that goes way up into the vein is what has her worried because of how far it has to come out. I tried to tell her it is no different than the two central lines they yanked out of my neck that were a foot long, and after thinking back that seemed to help.......until today...I guess the date kinda sneaked up on her.
I know she is a tough woman and will be fine, but a few prayers to settle her nerves would be greatly appreciated from you guys.
Thanks,
Chuck
