Congrats on a nice buck.

Teresa,

Nice buck! Well done!

We are having venison stew tonight at my house too. I got a mulie and an antelope in WY. Nada in Michigan the same as with all of my buddies. From what I hear at the club, no one is having much success here, so be happy as I know you are.

That buck has great antlers. No wonder you look so happy in your pics.

Just a guess, but maybe it bothered someone else too, who unloaded it...figuring you would check it each day.

No one touches my gun...and I don't touch theirs.. unless permission is given.. and that's a rule that is not broken around here. My rule I go by and Marshal has learned I' get bitchy about it.. He grabs up every gun and fondles it. I have let him know in no uncertain terms to leave mine alone!..  :P
Not to give you guys cardiac arrest.. but there are lots of times I don't unload my rifle during deer season.. I leave it in my truck cause I come back in for a little while.. and then go back out a few hours later.. It stays loaded..

But  Derek told me that he remembers me unloading my gun when I was standing in the alley talking to him after the last time I hunted on Thursday..which is weird cause I knew I was most likely going back out the next evening. Maybe that's why I did, cause I wasn't going until the evening and had massages scheduled for the morning..
Oh well~~ who knows..
I don't even remember doing it.. Guess I am so multi-task  ::)  I don't remember half of what I do.. Kinda like shooting and immediately without thinking it just goes on safety.. Or being in the field bird hunting.. shoot and be reloading all the while I'm walking to keep my eye on the bird that fell. Its all one unconscious easy movement..
Always unload shotgun before getting back in my truck... but   never unload my rifle on the way back to town..
I drive a lot of country roads and if I see a deer on the way back in I need that gun loaded and ready in the truck with me.. ( and no.. I don't have someone hold my beer while I shoot out of the window..  ;D ) Well~~ actually that DID happen once ( without the beer) and it about broke my eardrums.. :o

Good rule about your rifle.

I read a statement, I believe made by Jeff Cooper:   No one can handle your weapon without permission except your father or commanding officer.

M'ette,

Lucky you ran into a deaf deer cause that had to be the loudest CLICK you ever heard.
