Haz~~ You are right.. I have a 243 Browning with a Leupold Vari X III  3.5x10 scope.
I have shot with this gun for over 30 years. I take extremely good care of it.. Have only had to tweak the sighting in 1 time in all those years.. It never ever fails me.. If the cross hairs are on the critter.. you can bet the farm that its right on target. I've shot my deer with it every year and a few coyotes too..  I love it..
Mark uses a 270 Browning. It has more punch of course.. and I've shot it too.. but I'll take mine any day.
 So there you have it..

... there are lots of times I don't unload my rifle during deer season..

Yeah, an old hunting buddy of mine did that once, even though it's illegal here.  When he picked up his rifle to head back into the woods, he created a nice .30 hole in the floorboard of his Jeep.   :-[  Luckily, no one was hurt, including his Jeep (except for the floorboard).

"I drive a lot of country roads and if I see a deer on the way back in I need that gun loaded and ready in the truck with me.. "

Is it legal to hunt from a vehicle in Kansas?  Just wondering, because it's not in Kentucky, unless you are disabled, and then the vehicle must be motionless and you can't shoot on or over a roadway.

Ya got to jump out of your truck to shoot it. .. but if you have permission on the land that the deer is on.. then you can shoot.
