A new iPhone App with the misleading name ‘PatriotApp’ attempts to draw on the power of the patriot movement, turning smartphone users into a gigantic snitch network.

You might think an app with such a patriotic name might have useful functions like a pocket constitution or quotes from our forefathers. But contrary to the services one might expect, this app allows users to report any ‘suspicious’ behavior directly linking them with top government agencies.

Much like the new DHS program ‘If you see something, say something’ this app is meant to turn average citizens into a network of spies feeding information back to the federal government.

Citizen Concepts, a company formed by insiders from DHS, defines the use of such an app on their homepage...

Actually this is a basic counter terror tool. The biggest thing in stopping IRA bombings in London was educating the public if they saw an unattended package REPORT IT .
In fact, this is probably the only effective step that has been taken against terrorism in the US.

OH WOW!   The app has a point of contact with  the General Accounting Office.

My original analog phone and everyone since then are already equipped to allow me to report illegal activity.   All I had to do was press "911".

Along with the abandoned package type messages and exposure of government waste and abuses, I'm sure there would be a lot of reports of seeing folks buying ammunition at Wal-Mart and reports of folks running up "Don't Tread on Me" and "Liberty" flags.

The question is:   Which of these events would the government choose to act upon?

Sounds to me like "the Government" isn't exactly the problem here.
The truth is, most "Americans" today are getting exactly the government they deserve.
