Anyone Shoot This Yugo 7.62 X 39 MM Ammo ??

I'm thinking of picking up a couple of cases of this stuff. ($199.71 for a 1,260 round case if you buy 2). It's corrosive but that's not a problem. It's of pretty late manufacture, and comes in a sealed, Zinc lined wooden case. The primers and case mouths appear to be well sealed. (You can see the dried lacquer sealing on the pulled bullet in the photo). That, combined with the sealed case should give it good shelf life for storage. I like the fact it is brass cased as well. Just wondered if any of you guys have sent any of it downrange, and what you thought of it?  Bill T.

It is about the best most accurate AK ammo you can buy! The bases are flatter than standard which also makes it a bit more lethal. I have a buddy who runs it in his CZ bolt action and runs groups of 1 MOA. Get all you can. Heck I've been looking for someone to trade me for all this Chinese and East German I have.

I'm going to take a trip up to J&G while I've got some time off during the Holidays, and stock up on several cases of this stuff, and some of the 7.62 X 54 Com-Block Mosin ammo. This ammo is well packaged for long term storage.  Bill T.

My Saiga AK, loves the stuff. Little smokier, than Wolf Military Classic, or the standard Wolf. Smells different also,..don't know what that's about.

No misfires, FTF's, FTE's, smacks a 1 gallon water jug at 100yds.

It's corrosive, but no big deal if it's rinsed with Hoppe's No. 9 when your done shooting. I've stocked up, and put back a few "spam cans"..for a rainy day.

I asked them for a shipping quote to see if it paid to make the drive. They E-Mailed me back in just a few minutes. Turns out shipping on 2, 1,260 round cases of the brass 7.62 X 39 MM Yugo, and 4, 440 round sealed tins of the Bulgarian 7.62 X 54 MM was only $63.00.

 I would have spent that on gas on the 220 mile round trip. So that's what I ordered. The 7.62 X 54 MM Bulgarian comes 2, 440 round tins to the case. So all total I've got 2 cases of the Yugo 7.62 X 39 MM, (2,520 rounds) coming, and 2 cases of the 7.62 X 54 MM Bulgarian, (1,760 rounds, 4 tins). It should be here Monday or Tuesday.  Bill T.

I ordered this stuff at 2:30 PM on Thursday. The UPS truck pulled up at 1:00 PM Friday, 22 1/2 hours later with all 4 cases of ammo! The only way I could have gotten it any quicker would have been by private jet and a courier. And getting it this quick one week before Christmas is even more amazing! This is the ammo as it was delivered. Melanie rattlecanned the Yugo ammo with some light green paint we had. They came out looking a lot cleaner. Total bill was $895.73 including shipping and tax. The shipping was only $64.39. As I mentioned I couldn't drive up there and back for that.  Bill T.

Never shot any, but don't exactly skimp on primer sealer do they! 

If they crimp 'em tight the stuff should last about a trillion years even submerged in a lake!

I was talking to a couple of guys at my local gun club who split a case of this stuff. One guy told me for the hell of it he took 3 rounds and dropped them into a full glass of water, and then put a drink coaster over the top where they sat for over 2 weeks until he went shooting again.

When he finally went to the range he took the 3 rounds with him. All 3 went bang after being submerged in the glass full of water for over 2 weeks! Can't complain about that. The Russians are famous for long term storage of ammunition. They still are. A lot of it is based on thinking left over from the cold war when they stockpiled most everything needed for long term survival.  Bill T.

Just like some 7.62x54R Moisin ammo, you can bury it in it's spam can in some Eastern Bloc pasture, dig it up 50 years later, and it still works.

Similarly,  the S. African ball ammo that was scoffed up years ago, was good to have, and makes sense to keep your stocks up.

Just don't lose that can opener...
