Here's a question on Australian law for Sledge or Phil. What is up with the no weapons for SD bit? The Castle Doctrine goes back to Blackstone in English common law. It has zero to do with gun control. Ban what you will. BUT, if you enter my home unlawfully, you're bloody well buggered and I'll use what I can lawfully own to do it. When and how did this get get dropped? A duty to retreat on the street I can see, though I don't agree, but in your own home? Why shouldn't you be able to keep a gun loaded and ready to go? 400 years of common law says its okay. What happened and why?

yep that is correct
unloaded and locked away
self defence is not a reason to own firearms here
there was changes in the law that will protect us a little if someone did a home invasion however there is sooo much crap along with that.
however by the time I get the to a gun then unlock where the ammo is I know I would be dead ( hence why i have a few knives about the place

)
there have been a few cases where home owners have been let off or not charged when they were attacked and have shot the intruders
guess that is why my guns are soo clean when I hear a bump in the night it might be a good time to "clean" the guns
