You can't blame it all on BJ, the last Pres who actually allowed assassinations was JFK, but being a Dem he did not have guts enough to accept full responsibility so he farmed it out to people who turned it into a clusterf*#k.
As for Allende in Chile, while we took no steps to prevent the Coup, we neither encouraged nor participated.
The proof being that Congress did not leak details in advance, it was successful,and we did not wind up deploying 500,000 troops.
