Actually it's not exactly down the road. Maricopa is a town Southeast of me. It's a bit confusing because the town she's in is called Maricopa, but part of it is located in Pinal County, not Maricopa County which encompasses most of the Phoenix Metro area. Several guys I work with live in that area. As the article states, it has been hit hard by the real estate crunch. It looks like she got a lot of house for the money.  Bill T.

The local paper gushes all over itself because <gasp> Josh Duhamel (some sort of actor I gather) and his "pop star wife" Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas are in town <gasp> to have Christmas with <gasp> his Dad who lives in <gasp> Fargo!!!!

The only saving grace from all these stories is that the space used for Fergie Watch cuts into the space normally reserved for lame-lefty stories from the AP.

Worked with James Caan in the since canceled show "Vegas" and some bad movies.  Fergie has a nice butt though and she's like 35 now so that isn't skeazy for an old guy to gawk at!

I do believe he did! I'll forgive him because A) its true and B) a woman in her mid thirties to mid forties is in her prime. She won't be any more beautiful. You can keep the twenty something drama. I prefer a bit more experience and self confidence.

Wait till she gets that June & July bill for cooling that upper level. But I'm sure she'll be visiting Mom in AK when it gets to 110.
Two things I demanded when we were shopping for a new house 5 years ago - no 2 story and no HOA.

Amen to the no HOA. Good luck finding a place in Florida without one though. Honestly all you get is a bunch of busy bodies and stupid rules with a quarterly assesment and Barney Fife at a gate house. Frankly I'd rather save the money and mow my own damn front yard if it meant I could park my truck in the driveway. There are not words to describe how I wish we could have real neighborhoods with houses that aren't identical and no need for a HOA to add expense and hassel to your life. I grew up quite nicely without one. However, developers have pretty much made them standard and for god knows what reason folks seem to like them. It really does mystify me though, and I find it ironic that its more epensive to live in a decent neighborhood without one than with one. You'd think developers would take the hint.

A lot of the larger 2 story houses out here have zoned systems. Basically you have 2 separate air conditioning systems running off of 2 thermostats. One for the upstairs and another for the lower level. While it is still far more expensive to run than a single story, one system unit, it really helps reduce electric bills in the Summer.

At night you can shut down the lower level, and cool the upstairs for sleeping. Then about an hour before you wake up you can program the downstairs unit to kick on and bring the temp down to a more comfortable level while raising the upstairs temp during the day.

Regardless a 4,000 foot house is going to run at least $400.00+ a month to keep cool in June and July. I doubt that will be a problem since Sarah Palin has earned an estimated $13 MILLION since she left the Alaska Governor's Office for greener pastures.   Bill T.
