Can't decide between the SIGs
« on: January 02, 2011, 04:53:05 PM »
I am looking to spend on a new Sig and I'm really interested in either the 250 in 9mm or a 2022 in 9mm. I like the polymer frame on them and really like the idea of the 250 and the ability to adapt the guns size and such. But I really like the old fashion DA/SA setup which, as far as I can tell, isn't an option on the 250. I have little time in with the two so I would love to hear any first hand impressions on the 2 and any known issues with them. I am primarily wanting this to be a full size carry gun.

I really trust the opinions of those users on this site more than any where else. So I may go there as well but I would first like to get   thoughts here.

I'm not, nor have I ever been, a Sig owner so take this for what it is worth.

I've not heard much good about the 250.  Supposedly the trigger sucks big time.  Over the last few months I have sold a few handguns on local sales sites.  As soon as a gun hits the site I would get four or five (different) offers to trade a Sig 250 for it.  That kind of leads me to believe that they aren't all they are cracked up to be.

YMMV.

Hi garand. I have had a Sig 2022 in 9mm for about 4 years and it now has nearly 7K rounds through it. I have never replaced anything on the gun...I just clean it after I shoot. I've put reloads, stock, FMJ, HP, Wolf steel casings, lead reloads, everything. It eats everything I feed it and always goes boom.
The trigger isn't the sweetest, but I"ve never done anything to it, and I do have pistols that I can shoot more accurately. I originally got it for the SA/DA which I thought would work out for me and it does. The DA trigger pull is heavy enough that you will NOT fire the weapon unless you really want to.

I held a 250 once but never fired it. It is newer, probably lighter and maybe, better balanced, but I have heard that there are some problems.

I can say for a fact, though that my 9mm 2022 is a solid service weapon. It's certainly not "compact"  but it does have that "To Hell and back" reliability they advertise.
I got the blues as my companion.

I have owned a number of SIGs.  I happen to love my SIG P250 in 9mm.  The double action is very smooth, much smooth than the DAK.  I like the fact that you can easily switch frame sizes; I much prefer the small frame.

If you get a 250 and you want all the newest features, make sure you are not buying an older but still NIB gun. As I understand it, the older 'original' 250 does not interchange mags or frames with the newest version.

I have seen a few 250s, but I think all of them were the older style. They were OK. I like the hammer (instead of a striker), having grown up shooting the 1911, S&W 2nd and 3rd gens, and SIG P-2x0s.
