Thinking of getting the new Bodyguard380 as a hot weather pocket gun. Any thoughts on this weapon?

I have no knowledge of this weapon. However, I would like to learn. I'm curious as to why you are thinking of this one over a kel-tec, LCP, Walther etc.

Welcome to DRTV, MaOfficer.

Co-worker wanted one as soon as they advertised it. We both went to the NRA convention, fondled it, spoke to S&W reps about it. He put a deposit down at our local dealer, waited two weeks, after they started getting delivered, and picked it up.

At the range, there were no issues with 3 different types of ammo, FMJ & JHP's. The laser activation button is great (for a right hander), I'm a lefty, so,...... :-\ Take down is easy, slide stop and safety are small but so are the LCP's. It's a pocket pistol.

Grip is more ergo friendly than my Kel-Tec P3AT, not as thick as my PPK/S, and has a good grip angle. Better sights than the KT, but sights are not a real concern for a pocket pistol. IMHO.

The issues of the slide must have been resolved, as they are continuing to sell very well in my area, and I'm not hearing any more about it. My co-worker, carries it IWB, in a nothing fancy holster everyday, and loves it.

FWIW.

Shop around for pricing, I've seen them from $399 to almost $500.

Thanks for the info. They are legal in MA. The LCP and Kekltec are not. Neither of them are even on the list of weapons that Law Enforcement can buy with a letter from the department head.

I have a walther PPS 40 that has been back to smith&wesson 3 times  for repair with only 500 rounds fired through it, so my faith in Smith products is not very strong at this point.  I'am hoping to get as much input on the Bodyguard380 before I pull the trigger and drop the cash.

Thanks

Even though it's MASS,....there has to be a range you can test one out. Give it a test drive. Also have very good reviews about the Sig. although it's more exp.

What differentiates the "legality" of the Bodyguard vs. the LCP or KT? I love hearing about the "logic" involved in New England states firearm reg's. ;)

Money and the requisite safety features like a loaded chamber indicator and a trigger pull of 10 lbs or more.

You can test one out at the S&W Armory in Springfield.  Just pay about twenty bucks and bring some ammo or buy it at the range.  Shoot the thing till it burns red hot and give it back.  You can rent anything that Smith makes at that range.  Same range where Mucilek wins his matches every year.  It's about a 25 lane indoor facility attached to the retail store.  Bring a hat with you or they make you wear some kootie coated painters cap that everybody and their flea infested cousin wore..

I shot a $4000.00, 1911 race gun for twenty bucks myself.  Forgot my glasses and still managed to shoot the lights out with it.

Too much fun.....I even went with my Para 1911 on my hip.  Shot a little bit with that too.  Bring friends, you can share a lane.

Did they, or did they not , pay off the State and possibly some legislators, to be placed on the list of "acceptable" fire arms.
It's actually very logical, corrupt as hell, but logical.
And how many times do I have to point out that Planet Boston is not all of New England ? Me, NH, and Vermont actually understand the concept of "Shall not be infringed", and in fact, are less restrictive than Texas, NC, or Florida.

With Smith and Wesson and the State of Massachusetts it's a matter of pooping where you eat.  You can damn sure bet that they get a pass on the majority of their firearms.

Does a S&W 1911 have a loaded chamber indicator on it?  How bout your Walther PPK or PPK/S.  It's a joke and they're laughing all the way to the bank.
