First Reloads For 2011
« on: January 08, 2011, 02:44:08 PM »
Just finished a 50 round batch of mid-range velosity .44 magnum, first reloads for 2011.
Winchester Brass
Winchester Large Pistol Primmers
4.8 grs. Of Titegroup
240 gr. LSWC
Should be around 800 fps.
There is room for all of God's creatures ....., That would be on my plate right next to the taters and gravy.

How do you like the Titegroup?

I have all the components, and the powder I chose (after reading a John Taffin reloading column) was Titegroup.

I have once-fired Remington brass, CCI primers, Hornady 200gr XTP hollow points and am looking for around 1000 fps.

Is it fairly clean?

Done some .44s the other day 21.5g Alliant 2400 and a mix of 240gr pills Hornady XTP's, Black Hawk SWC, and Topscore RNFP
All three projectiles behaved well and were accurate (hitting redbull cans at 35yrds). Would not consider these a mild load, shot them alongside some Winchester Factory 240gr's and the Winshitters where definately not as hard hitting.
All extracted ok and primers where not flattened, I think I have found my "perfect load" Accurate, Powerful and Perfomed well.

45 Auto Rim
Wolf Large Pistol Primers
180 gr Lyman Devastator Cast Hollowpoints
10.7 gr AA#7

Have your musket clean as a whistle, hatchet scoured, 60 rounds powder and ball and be ready to march at a minute's warning.

Seems to be fairly clean but then I have used a lot of 2400 and almost anything is cleaner than 2400. ,I have only test fired 12 rounds of this load but will get a full range report later. I also want to check if this load leads my bore or not.

Thanks, and good shooting.
