What do you think lead to the renewed interest in "sniper culture" (for lack of a better term for it ).
Is it because the Vietnam era vets reached that 50's age range, is it an off shoot of the general increase in the popularity of shooting seeking to become "Riflemen",  is it because it draws the interest of people finding a "useful purpose" for their bench rest shooting, or perhaps just the eternal search for "perfection" that we see in every human activity,  ?
Or is it just because long range precision shooting is fun ?

I liked the interview, I think interest in long range precision shooting leads to something else, You buy the best rifle and the best optics, then the best ammo, if you don't roll your own and find out pretty quick, past 400 yards, riflemanship matters, and that takes learning and discipline, those that choose to take that course are bound to be better shots and probably better people, there are no magic rifle/scope combo's that beat a well trained rifleman. As most of you know, I like shooting little things a long way off, that has always been the beauty of shooting, no matter how good you get, you can back up further and make the target smaller. That also go's with handguns, faster, smaller, further, I like it.

Listened to him in person at the NRA Convention in May, they should have booked a larger ballroom, as it was packed to the point of folks sitting (me and my son included), on the floor to hear him.

My s-i-l calls it, "Yoga for Republicans."  Claims you need similar breathing techniques, similar muscle control, and when you're good at it, you get a hole in something 1,000 yards away.  How cool is that?

Hmmm... yoga. Lets see, what is more attractive? A woman who can wrap her feet behind her head, or one who can make an 800 yard shot? I'll be in the corner thinking about it.

If you have the right leverage they can all get their feet behind their heads.
800 yard shot ? They either can or they can't.

I'm pretty sure I can teach a women to make a 800 yd shot faster then they can develop that kind of flexabilty.
