I watch your show ever week.  But this week really got me.  Michael Janiah is a master at hand to hand combat.  But he spoke as if we used our weapon before we engaged in a fight we are going to prison.  Years ago I was in the Army and would have tried this alpha dog method.  But now I am disabled with a spine disorder, and somedays getting out of the house is hard to do. I agree no one wants to shot anyone but, if they attack you physically, then they mean you harm weather what weapon they have.  There are many that can and will kill you with their hands. I personally dont want to take a chance of trying to disarm someone willing to attack me.  I have a wife and child to come home to, or to protect.  So I disagree with Michael, if I had his training and was able that would be great.  But to just come out and say If you use your gun you will go to prison is what the anti-gun people want to hear.  Now they can refer to episode 98 and say in court the attacker could of been disarmed or took to the ground and his weapon removed, then we could the pull our weapon and held him until the cops arrived.  Yeah in a perfect world that would be great.   ::)  Like the old saying goes you can be judged by 12 or carried by 6.  This is no disrepect to Michael, he has a great talent, but some of us need the gun.  That is why a got a carry permit.  If I can pull my weapon as he starts to attack, then maybe he will stop and leave.  And if he continues to attack then I have a chance of living thought it, dont take me wrong Im not a wimp or afraid, but I am limited to what I can do with the spine disorder.  Thank God and Smith and Wesson made all men equal.

Jake -

Welcome to the board. Good post too, thanks for the different perspective. Always helpful.

Michael, Marshal, Marshal'ette, Alf... anyone else;

Nice timing on the Janich episode.

I was fortunate enough to attend a seminar here in Omaha he put on earlier this month. I tried (in vain) to get Mizz Merchant to go. She asked me to show her what I learned... So, I recorded Shooting Gallery for her.

Janich did want me to tell you hello.

Jake,

I'm not an attorney, but depending on how bad your condition is, it would boil down to a disparity of force type of issue.  If you do not have the means to defend yourself H2H, hopefully your attorney can make the argument that the gun was your only option.  Good for you on taking the initiative to be armed and not just give up.

John
