How does it compare width or size wise to say an LCP or G-26? It seems smaller than the new Ruger (though pricier). Just curious.

Here's how it compares to my Walther PPS which I think is a great pistol and some other smaller models

Walther PPS            Kimber Solo         Taurus 709 Slim       Ruger LC9
Length OA           6.3"                     5.5"                         6"                      6"
Weight E           20.8 oz                 17 oz                      19 oz                 17 oz
Height                4.4"                     3.9"                        4.6"                   4.5"
Width                 1.04"                   1.2"                        1.1"                   .90"
Capacity                6                        6                            7                       7

I know my Walther is reliable as it gets and I like not having any external safeties it makes it feel even thinner than it really is. I'd have to hold both the Kimber and LC9 to see how they really compare. I've held and shot a 709 slim and didn't care for it. It was actually less comfortable to grip than my Taurus PT145 which is more than easy enough for me to conceal in just about any situation. I keep the Walther for deeper concealment but mainly for times when I'm restricted by work rules or state laws to a 9mm or .38spl.

There is a video comparison of it with the LCP here.

http://www.kimber1911pistols.com/tag/kimber-solo-carry/

Now this looks interesting.  It is very close in size to the LCP.  maybe half an inch longer and half an inch taller and a quarter inch wider.

Weight is 17 ounces empty which is about half a pound heaver than the LCP.  Two sticks of butter heaver, if you want to have an easy gauge.

The shop I was at on Saturday had one in the display case.  It looks really well built.  And tiny.

I'd like to handle one and compare it to the new Sig compact 9 - are they available yet?

Yes, Michael Bane was right

Of course he's right....a guy with that good a taste in hats can't be wrong....  8)

I'd rather have seen Kimber do a EMP-style 9mm for half the price of the Springfield....but this is pretty nice.....

Wonder how long until Glock and S&W jump on the bandwagon?.....
Why, yes....I'm the right-wing extremist Obama warned you about... ;D

From your mouth to God's ear. ;) The only down side to this is the price. I can buy two Rugers for that. The trouble with Kimber is that they are a little too pretty for their own good in this market.I love their aesthetics in 19911s. They are drool worthy, and I say say that as a Glock guy. But, a pocket pistol is going to be kept, well, in your pocket. Quick and dirty is the game here. If they could drop that to the $500-$550 range, I'd look hard at it.
